MapHook App Reviews

Impressive

I was incredibly impressed with this app, but Id like the ability to create links to more web resources than Wikipedia and Yelp. Making the notes field recognize hyperlinks would revolutionize this app for me and allow me to use it to annotate locations for educational purposes. Still, youve set the bar high with this app particularly with how you handle lists of contacts.

Nice Idea

The ability to create hooks for multiple places, and then rate the location youve hooked is very nice. As well being able to see others opinions of a specific place can help a lot in deciding whether you would want to go there or not. This app will be fun to use for keeping good memories of places, hopefully I will be able to get my friends in on this too.

My MapHook Review

I am new to MapHook, but it only took me a couple minutes to figure it out! I am already having fun coming up with hooks to share and have been checking out any hooks that are close to me or places Ive been! A very fun free app!!

Location-based service with more features

I really like what MapHook has done, the ability to add some quick details about a location including photos, comments and reviews is easy. I just hope they can manage to catch more users... not a lot of hooks in my area yet! Ill have to spread the word :)

Crashes way too much!

iPhone 4 and it keeps crashing. App has potential so I hope this gets fixed.

Still crashes way too much (v1.0.7)

Title says it all. Its pretty much unusable in its current state.

Use it almost everyday

I love using MapHook for 2 big reasons. 1) its easy, and 2) I can choose who I want to share things with. I can take pics, write blog entries, whatever - but I get to choose who can see em - family, friends, or the entire world. Having a website that matches the phone app doesnt hurt either!

Love it

Certainly the most interesting concept around. A possible Facebook+twitter killer!

Pretty cool

Nice, now I have a cool way blogging my pictures. The groups seem to be very helpful, But it would be nice if I can send invites for others to join my group.

the future

how do they keep coming up with so many cool apps like this? it just gets better and better

What twitter should be

Social blogging with geo-tagging and pictures, its just right for those important moments in life.

TMI

Asks for too much information for sign up. Deleted. Not yet ready to share my phone number, email, and location with you.

Too much info needed to start

This is a good idea but too much demographic information is required. Also, anything you post becomes property of maphook per the user agreement.

Didnt even try it...

I wanted to, but it wants my phone number? Why on earth? Remove that requirement and Ill try it again... As for now, its gone.

Look here

This applicatione is like a simple one. But is working very well in my country. Very fast very very ....!!! That is it about it..

Not another sign-up

This looked interesting but you cant even view or see anyone elses hooks unless and sign up and create an account. Annoying as I dont need 1000 usernames on 1000 different sites. Learn from Yelp! Let us view the map and hooks and then if we want to post we can sign up.

Good design, but the point is…?!

I like this app, it works well on iOS4. The design is good and it is in all very easy to use. The thing is I see little point in using it. Im not interested in most of the hooks people I dont know are leaving and I dont know anyone else using it, in fact there are no hooks in my county but there are some in this country at least. So that leaves Yelp of which is used relatively little outside America and Wikipedia and I can get local Wikipedia articles with Augmented Reality apps on my iPhone. I believe the app would be much more useful and relevant outside America if it also captured data from Qype. Qype is like Yelp, but it is very well established in many of the 47 countries in Europe - but not in America, so most apps dont use their data. Ive just viewed details of one hook left, I see no way to follow or add the user as a friend, and no way to go back to seeing all hooks locally… wait a sec… you press "home" then go back to "near me". If it has Qype data, and if I know people using it, then it would be far more relevant and I hope in the future that a premium version without ads will be released.

Very cool concept and great working app

So far I have been playing with this app on a 3G running iOS4 and no issues. very clean app very fast response on the menus and easy to use on top of that. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a way to show other that they are not just at some address. Keep up the great work.

Really cool App!!

Ive been using other apps for this sort of thing, but Maphook does it all in one! This app makes normal, mundane trips a lot more fun and memorable. Give it a try!

Great, easy to use

This app is the easiest location app that I have worked with so far.
